Meet the Speakers

Brendan W. Reilly, South Dakota Law

South Dakota lawyer Brendan Reilly joined Davenport Evans in 1998. Brendan’s practice encompasses a wide area but he works most frequently in general corporate law, from the formation of new legal entities to the merger or purchase of existing companies. Brendan also focuses on a variety of real estate and land use matters, and assists clients with matters related to health care, intellectual property, and general contract preparation and negotiation.

Dixie K. Hieb, Banking Issues

Dixie is a member of the firm’s Banking and Financial Services Practice Group.  Her practice focuses on bank regulatory compliance and trust company formation and operation.  Dixie’s regulatory practice covers all facets of consumer disclosures, including those related to credit cards, prepaid cards, student loans, other closed-end loans, and deposit accounts.  Dixie has expertise in electronic banking and electronic delivery of disclosures, and she advises clients on CRA issues.  She has been a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Trust Review and Reform since 2018. Dixie is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Jean H. Bender, Employment Concerns

Sioux Falls lawyer Jean H. Bender is an employment lawyer at Davenport Evans.  Jean is extremely active assisting clients with employee benefits issues and all areas of employment law. Jean counsels clients on issues involving harassment, race, sex, age, national origin and disability discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and leave issues under the Family and Medical Leave Act. Jean proactively counsels clients on issues such as hiring and firing, drug testing, harassment and discrimination investigations, employment policies, and company handbooks. Jean also drafts corporate documents related to employment such as contracts, non-compete agreements, and severance agreements and releases.
